Residents are advised that Goulburn Valley Water will be conducting smoke testing to identify possible defects in the sewer network within the Pitt Street Violet Town area (includes Shiffner & Hurt Streets).  As a result, there will be smoke in the area on Thursday 20th of June 2019 between 8.00am – 4.00pm.

During the smoke testing, segments of the sewer will be sealed off and smoke will be forced into the sewer mains.  The substance used to generate the smoke is called Shell Ondina Oil 15 (information sheet provided to affected customers), which is NON-TOXIC, HARMLESS, VIRTUALLY ODOURLESS, AND DOES NOT CREATE A FIRE HAZARD.  The CFA and VICPOL have been notified of these works.

19 June Seymour SEWER SPILL: Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) is responding to a sewer spill as a result of a burst sewer main at the intersection of Tarcombe and Avenel Rds, Seymour. The main which has burst is a pressurised main, which means there is a higher volume spilt. The spill has reached a stormwater drain running along Avenel Rd.

Please be advised that the footpath on Tarcombe Rd near Avenel Rd is closed at the moment due to ongoing sewer works for the next couple of days. Operations staff will be working onsite tomorrow and hope to have the path accessible by the end of the day.

Staff and sucker trucks are on site, water is being reclaimed from the stormwater system and sent to the wastewater management facility. We are working with impacted customers – we apologise for any inconvenience. Works to repair the sewer main will commence tomorrow (Thursday 20 June), however crews have controlled the flow.

We have also advised the Environment Protection Agency as per our normal process. Please avoid the area as a precaution whilst remediation works are underway. We apologise for any inconvenience. Any queries can be directed to GVW’s Customer Service Centre on 1800454500.
