20 January - Water supply update for Longwood and Longwood East

20 January, 2026 11:15am
WATER SUPPLY UPDATE FOR LONGWOOD AND LONGWOOD EAST

We are continuing to provide Longwood’s drinking water supply with water tankers while our treatment plant remains offline due to fire damage.

Your tap water remains safe to drink, and our teams are working steadily to keep water flowing while repairs progress.

While relief water filling at the Longwood Recreation Reserve has now finished, you will continue to see water tankers moving through town to deliver drinking water directly into the supply system. Please keep an eye out for these large vehicles on local roads and take extra care when driving or walking nearby.

Whilst the water treatment plant is offline during this recovery period, we encourage households to be thoughtful with water use, particularly at night, to help support stable supply.

We know the community is going through an incredibly difficult time. We appreciate your ongoing support. Please call our customer support centre on 1800 454 500 if you need assistance or more information.

We’ll keep you updated as work continues.

15 January - Lifting of Boil Water Advisory for Longwood and Longwood East

Thursday 15 January 2:10pm
LIFTING OF BOIL WATER ADVISORY LONGWOOD & LONGWOOD EAST

Goulburn Valley Water, in consultation with the Department of Health, has lifted the Boil Water Advisory for Longwood and Longwood East.

Your water supply is safe for all drinking, washing and food preparation purposes.

The fire that passed through Longwood and Longwood East damaged the Longwood Water Treatment Plant, which impacted water supply to customers.

We were able to restore water supply by tankering drinking water to existing storage tanks, but we could not guarantee that the water was safe to drink due to other fire impacts on the supply network.

We have repaired leaks and replaced meters along the network and have been monitoring the supply system to maintain the tankered water supply.

We received water quality test results today that confirmed the water is now fit for human consumption.

Staff have worked tirelessly to return a safe supply of drinking water to customers in both Longwood and Longwood East.

We will continue to provide water at the Longwood Recreation Reserve through the water tanker from 8am to 4pm and a supply of bottled water, until the Longwood Water Treatment Plant is back online.

Customers and community members in and around Longwood and Longwood East are welcome to bring water containers and IBCs to the site.

You are welcome to provide feedback on this Boil Water Advisory. Please call 1800 454 500 or email mail@gvwater.vic.gov.au
