In our region, water for drinking purposes is obtained from surface water sources such as rivers, creeks, channels and reservoirs. Almost half of the towns serviced by us are supplied directly from rivers and streams including the Goulburn, Broken and Murray Rivers whilst others are supplied from channels, reservoirs or storages and one town is supplied by a groundwater bore.

View our Fact Sheet (PDF: 67kb) to learn about where your water comes from.

All our water supply sources are relatively secure with respect to volumes except during severe drought events. To maintain security of supply, particularly during the winter months when the irrigation systems are shut-down, water is diverted to off-stream water storage reservoirs in a number of locations.
