Tatura Wastewater Management Facility
Upgrade works at the Tatura Wastewater Management Facility will commence on Monday 28 April 2025, replacing the inlet and distribution boxes to improve longevity of the plant.
This upgrade is critical to the performance of the facility and will support the delivery of high-quality waste management for Tatura and surrounds into the future.
Works are expected to be completed by early June 2025. There will be no interruptions to services during these works.
If you would like more information about these works, or need to get in touch with us, please contact our Customer Service Team on 1800 454 500.
Shepparton Wastewater Management Facility
Desludging works will be occurring at the Shepparton Wastewater Management Facility from mid-January to about May.
About 30,000 cubic metres of sludge is expected to be removed from Lagoon 1.This will be beneficially reused, for example as fertiliser.
We have appointed a contractor to carry out the desludging works on one of the lagoons at the Shepparton Wastewater Management Facility.
The works program is part of regular maintenance works and occurs every 5-10 years to ensure the lagoon continues to operate effectively and to reduce the potential for any odour.
It will involve desludging the lagoon, where the layer of organic matter at the bottom is pumped out. It will then be dried on site, before it’s beneficially reused.
We’ve timed the project to occur over summer to speed up the process and reduce the likelihood of any odour.
You can read more in our fact sheet here Shepparton WMF desludging project (1.51MB).
With works occurring on this site, there may be some odour at some times, depending on weather conditions. This is likely to be intermittent, and generally only experienced earlier in the project.
We will be undertaking proactive, regular odour monitoring on site and we’ll have odour mitigation options ready to use as required, including odour misting and lime spreading.
If people do experience odour, they can report it to us on 1800 454 500.
