New requirement for Professional Engineering Registration

We are writing to inform you about Goulburn Valley Water’s position to abide by the requirements of the Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019.

Pursuant to the requirements of the Act, Goulburn Valley Water will require all consultants and accredited consultants (key personnel) employed to deliver professional engineering services in our service region to be Registered.

The requirements of the Act commence on 1 October 2022 for civil and structural engineering related activities.

We will require all consultants to provide evidence of registration in line with the timeline prescribed by the Business Licensing Authority as follows:

  • Civil engineer:  1 October 2022
  • Structural engineer:  1 October 2022
  • Electrical engineer:  1 June 2023
  • Mechanical engineer:  1 December 2023
  • Fire safety engineering:  1 December 2021

All engineering documents and plans will need to be approved and signed by a registered engineer prior to being submitted to Goulburn Valley Water. Please provide the registered engineer's Victorian registration number on all submitted plans.
