Construction of a 4-kilometre pipeline, stretching from a new estate in southern Kilmore to the northern entry of the town, will start later this month and provide vital infrastructure to allow the continued expansion of Kilmore township.

Goulburn Valley Water is working closely with Mitchell Shire Council and the contractor to ensure minimum impact to pedestrian and vehicle traffic during the construction of the trunk main sewer, which will be capable of servicing thousands of new homes in the southern area of the town.

Construction is expected to start later this month and will initially follow a route adjacent to Kilmore Creek. Goulburn Valley Water General Manager Planning and Assets, Regan Flanagan, said the project would involve significant collaboration with Mitchell Shire Council over the period of the pipeline’s construction.

“Much of the work will not impact residents, but there are some high traffic areas where we will work with the shire and the contractor to ensure the community is informed of any potential interruptions to their everyday activities.

“This project will be a ‘game-changer’ for Kilmore.

“It enables future development by providing essential wastewater services, while also protecting the reliability of services to existing customers,” Mrs Flanagan said.

Construction will commence between Lumsden and Graves Streets in Kilmore and follow an eastern alignment alongside Kilmore Creek before moving to the north and connecting to GVW’s existing wastewater infrastructure.

Califam Constructions has been engaged as the pipeline construction contractor. More information on this project is available on Goulburn Valley Water’s – Water Matters site.
