KEY THEME 4: MEANINGFUL ENVIRONMENTAL AND RECREATIONAL OUTCOMES
4D) ACCESS TO FRESH DRINKING WATER IN PUBLIC PLACES IN ALL TOWNS SUPPLIED WITH POTABLE WATER
About this project
We are committed to providing fresh drinking water to our communities through the installation of permanent hydration stations in all towns with potable (drinking) water. Prior to the price plan we had installed 12 stations in public places and community feedback during the Price Submission period indicated strong support for the expansion of the program.
This project will see us install an additional 40 stations across our service area to ensure each of our towns has access to fresh water. This project aligns closely with the statewide Choose Tap program which encourages people to drink tap water over bottled water and sugary drinks.
What we have done so far
We have committed to installing eight stations each year across the price plan period and have worked with local communities to ensure the roll out identifies suitable locations. In 2018/19 we installed stations in Alexandra, Dookie, Kilmore, Sawmill Settlement, Shepparton, Tallarook, Tallygaroopna and Toolamba.
Towns and locations are chosen through an expression of interest process in partnership with local community groups. Applications for 2019/20 have now closed. Successful applicants will be notified.
