KEY THEME 2: A RENEWED FOCUS ON WATER QUALITY AND SUPPLY
2A) IMPROVED WATER PRESSURE FOR IDENTIFIED COMMUNITIES THROUGH TARGETED INVESTIGATIONS AND RESPONSES
About this project
Customer expectations on water pressure are growing. Some customers have told GVW that they expect to be able to use multiple water fixtures concurrently, both inside and outside, without this impacting their water pressure.
Although our water pressure meets the required standards, feedback has indicated that we are not meeting the expectations of some of our customers. In particular those in the towns of Picola, Stanhope and Tatura.
In response to a survey question of “how GVW can offer greater value for customers” 3.2% of customers identified water pressure as an issue, being the fourth most mentioned issue. In addition, over the four years to 30 June 2017, 588 customer complaints regarding water pressure were received.
What we have done so far
To help us identify water pressure issues, all customers registered for e-billing were asked to complete a short survey on their water pressure in the billing round commencing April 2019. If you would like to complete the survey now, it can be accessed here. Alternatively, a longer survey which was sent to the below towns can be accesed here. You will need to be at home to complete this survey, and have a 10L bucket.
In 2018 Goulburn Valley Water asked customers in Picola, Stanhope and Tatura, towns with identified pressure issues, to complete a survey on their priorities and perceptions about water pressure. The purpose of the survey was to help GVW plan for the future and meet the growing demand in these towns. We would like to thank all those that took the time to complete the survey.

What's happening now?
- We are currently reviewing all survey data to determine trends and particular areas with identified pressure problems.
- A consultant has been engaged for the investigation.
- We are reviewing our water pressure standards and will develop a new standard if required.
- We are working to determine the desired pressure in these towns.
- We are working to verify town pressures reported in the surveys.
Investigations have been undertaken at properties that asked for follow up in the survyes, based on the outcomes of the above reviews further investigations may take place.
