ResourceSmart Schools is a Victorian Government initiative that helps schools benefit from embedding sustainability in everything they do.
Goulburn Valley Water is the lead agency in the Hume Region for ResourceSmart Schools, providing facilitation and assessment services to schools from Seymour to Corryong.
As a ResourceSmart School, students and teachers take action to minimise waste, save energy and water, promote biodiversity and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
ResourceSmart Schools helps schools reduce costs while giving students the opportunity to learn about sustainability in a tangible and realistic environment.
The RSS online system allows schools to track their sustainability journey and identify savings made. The RSS Sustainability Certification process rewards progress and allows schools to reach for the stars!
ResourceSmart staff provide schools with support and put them in touch with networks, programs and organisations focused on sustainability.
FREE Progress Workshops for ResourceSmart Schools
Progress workshops are held each term in the northern and southern parts of the Hume Region. These workshops provide direct support to main teachers and are an excellent opportunity for schools to get work done on the online system whilst sharing their learnings with each other. Resources for ResourceSmart Schools
Incursions - NEW
ResourceSmart Hume are pleased to offer FREE incursions to all ResourceSmart Schools, or schools that are interested in becoming ResourceSmart.
These incursions should be booked via the Goulburn Valley Water website and are available to all schools in the region. Incursions have been designed to meet RSS module actions and assist schools in completing modules. All materials are included.
Any school that books an incursion must make a RSS teacher available, either before or after the incursion time, to meet with the facilitator and discuss RSS at the school. If you are not a current RSS but would like to find out more, book an incursion and we can talk about the program afterwards. You can be set up on the spot as a RSS and we can start checking off actions straight away!
Terms and Conditions
- Bookings are subject to availability.
- Booking must be made at least two weeks in advance.
- Teachers must supervise and discipline students.
- Schools must make a ResourceSmart teacher available before or after the incursion to meet with the presenter.
Please complete the online booking form if your school is interested in taking part in our education program
