Shepparton water main works to improve reliability
10 July 2018
Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) is replacing more than 600 metres of ageing water mains along Sheppard and Khull Streets to improve service reliability for local residents.
Works will require access along Wyndham Street, meaning drivers may experience delays with traffic management in place between 9.30am and 2.30pm on Monday July 16 and Tuesday July 17. Traffic management will be in place from south of Wilmot Road to north of MacIntosh Street while these important upgrades are carried out.
Speed limits will be reduced to 40km/h and north and southbound traffic on Wyndham St will each be reduced to one lane, merged on the southbound side. Pedestrians are also asked to keep clear of the site.
Work on the project began in late June and is expected to take up to four weeks. Residents affected by any water supply interruptions will be notified directly.
Goulburn Valley Water Acting Manager Asset/Project Delivery Prithi Gajanayaka said the works would improve the reliability of supply to residents in the area and reduce the number of bursts.
“These works will replace ageing infrastructure and help to reduce the number of bursts,” he said.
“If you’re going to be travelling along Wyndham St, we encourage you to take an alternate route or plan to leave ahead of time.
“We apologise for any inconvenience and thank people for their co-operation while works are taking place.”
The works are part of Goulburn Valley Water’s ongoing Water Main Replacement Program to continue improving service reliability for customers.
For more information about the works, residents can phone GVW’s 24-hour Customer Service Centre on 1800 454 500.
