Seymour and Euroa recycled water release
05 December 2017
Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) is expecting to release treated wastewater from its Seymour Wastewater Management Facility into Back Creek and the Euroa Wastewater Management Facility into Castle Creek over the coming weeks.
GVW Wastewater and Recycling Coordinator, Stuart Harris said "the treatment facilities have reached capacity due to recent higher than usual rainfall and consequential flooding and the wet conditions also prevent irrigation during this critical period.”
Mr Harris also said the water being released has been fully treated and meets Environment Protection Authority (EPA) Class C standards.
“Our EPA licence allows for periodic releases in high rainfall events, so due to this circumstance, GVW is permitted to release surplus water.”
The Corporation requests that landholders downstream of the discharge restrict stock from accessing the creek over the next few weeks.
