Primary Care Connect to be Water Only
30 October 2017
Goulburn Valley Water will recognise Primary Care Connect as becoming a Water Only Workplace this week.
The ‘Water Only’ program focuses on improving the health of children and adults in the Goulburn Valley by providing support to schools, workplaces and kinders to inform their staff, students and community of lifestyle choices which can improve health and performance. By signing up to become a Water Only Workplace, Primary Care Connect will be committing to the removal of sugary drinks being readily available in the workplace, as well as encouraging staff to drink water.
“By discouraging sugary drinks in the workplace, we hope to convey a healthy message to staff, with potential to also change community attitudes” Kristy Elrington said. “The purpose of this program is to encourage staff and their families to make smart choices about what they drink.”
To assist the transition, GVW will be running a launch event at Primary Care Connect on Thursday 2 November at 10:00am. Each staff member will be provided with a ‘Choose Tap’ drink bottle and will participate in activities aimed to encourage them to stay hydrated and avoid regular consumption of sugary drinks.
The Water Only Workplaces program supports organisations in promoting themselves as ‘Water Only’ by:
- Ensuring drinking water is available at all times
- Removing the sale of sweet drinks from the workplace
- Educating staff about the health impacts of sweet drinks
‘Water Only’ is a Choose Tap program which assists in delivering the important messages of choosing tap water for your health, the environment and your hip pocket.
If you are interested in becoming a ‘Water Only’ school, kinder or workplace or would like more information about the ‘Choose Tap’ program please contact GVW’s Education Officer, Kristy Elrington, on 5832 4869 or email@example.com
