The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has granted an approval to release treated recycled water from the Goulburn Valley Water's (GVW) Shepparton Wastewater Management Facility (WMF) to the Goulburn River over the coming weeks.

GVW Wastewater and Recycling Coordinator, Mr Stuart Harris, said the decision was made to release the recycled water due to a minor infrastructure failure which was preventing normal site operation.

“Treated wastewater releases into the Goulburn River began on Monday May 25 and will continue as needed until the repairs at the WMF are completed,” Mr Harris said.

The water being released has been fully treated and meets EPA Class C standards.
