Victorian Network Operator of the Year
22 September 2017
Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) would like to congratulate Senior Operator Russell Sunderland, who has been awarded the inaugural 2017 Victorian Network Operator of the Year!
Russell was acknowledged with the award at the 80th WIOA (Water Industry Operators Association) Victorian Water Industry Operations Conference held in Bendigo recently. Russell is based in Shepparton and is a member of GVW's Central Operations team and is responsible for the daily operation of water and sewer distribution systems including preventative maintenance, investigations and project work.
GVW District Manager Central Operations, Neville Whittaker, said that Russell received the award for his outstanding contribution to providing safe, reliable water to GVW customers. "Russell's initiative, attention to detail and execution of his duties certainly makes him a worthy winner of this award."
Although Russell was unable to attend and award ceremony due to an overseas holiday, Neville accepted the award on his behalf. Before departing for his holiday, Russell was given the news that he had won the award and was able to record an acceptance speech that was played at the conference.
In addition to the prestige and recognition of being the award winner, Russell will join the 2018 WIOA tour of New Zealand.
