Stage 4 Water Restrictions for Longwood 27 February 2009 Goulburn Valley Water has announced that Stage 4 Water Restrictions will come into effect for Longwood from Tuesday 3rd March 2009 and will continue until further notice. Goulburn Valley Water’s Managing Director Mr Peter Quinn said that the move to Stage 4 water restrictions is necessary to conserve the water available in Nine Mile Creek Reservoir. “Unfortunately the level in Nine Mile Creek Reservoir, which supplies Longwood, has continued to fall since the introduction of Stage 3 water restrictions four weeks ago and is now only holding about 9,000 kilolitres,” said Mr Quinn. “Allowing for some ‘dead water’ (water that can’t be extracted) there is only sufficient water for about 45 days at the current demand levels.” Mr Quinn said that it is essential that everybody does all they can to minimise water usage. “I would also like to ask anybody who sees a leak, or inappropriate water use to report it immediately to our 24 hour customer service centre by telephoning Free Call 1800 45 45 00.” Under Stage 4 Water Restrictions town water cannot be used outdoors.
