Stage 3 Water Restrictions for Longwood 3 February 2009 Goulburn Valley Water has announced that Stage 3 Water Restrictions will come into effect for Longwood from Thursday 5th February 2009 and will continue until further notice. Goulburn Valley Water’s Managing Director Mr Peter Quinn said that the move to Stage 3 water restrictions is necessary to conserve the water available in Nine Mile Creek Reservoir. “The increase in water restrictions is due to a combination of high consumption and low inflows,” he said. “The level in Nine Mile Creek, which supplies Longwood, has fallen rapidly over the last 4 weeks and is now holding 13 megalitres.” “It is important that we increase the water restrictions level from Stage 1 to Stage 3 to conserve all available supplies.” Mr Quinn said that it is essential that everybody does all they can to minimise water usage under these water restrictions and suggests using grey water from the laundry or shower to help preserve valuable plants. Some key features of Stage 3 Water Restrictions are: RESIDENTIAL GARDENS and LAWNS
