Stage 3 Water Restrictions for Longwood

3 April 2009

Goulburn Valley Water is pleased to announce that water restrictions for Longwood are to be eased from Stage 4 to Stage 3 effective from Wednesday 8 April 2009.

Goulburn Valley Water’s Managing Director, Mr Peter Quinn said that water restrictions were able to be eased because of an increase in the water level in Nine Mile Creek Reservoir.

“The reservoir now contains 14 megaltires compared to 10 megalitres at the start of March,” said Mr Quinn.  “If the storage level continues to increase than water restrictions may be eased further.”

Some key features of Stage 3 Water Restrictions are:

RESIDENTIAL GARDENS and LAWNS

  • Watering of lawns is BANNED

  • Garden areas (other than lawn) may be watered by:

o   a manual dripper system between 6am to 8am and 7pm to 9pm on specified days#; or

o   a handheld hose fitted with a trigger mechanism between 6am to 8am and 7pm to 9pm on specified days; or

o   or an automated dripper system between midnight and 4am on specified days.

Note: No sprinkler systems are allowed.

#Specified Days Sunday and Wednesday for odd-numbered properties, and Saturday and Tuesday for even-numbered and unnumbered properties.
