Stage 1 Water Restrictions for Kilmore, Wandong and Heathcote Junction

Goulburn Valley Water is pleased to advise that effective Friday 20 March 2009 Stage 2 water restrictions for Kilmore, Wandong and Heathcote Junction will be eased to Stage 1.

Goulburn Valley Water’s General Manager Technical Service, Mr Allen Gale said that the temporary transfer pipeline, which transfer water from Broadford to Sunday Creek is operating very reliably.  “Along with the cooler weather and shorter days ahead in autumn which will reduce consumption we have been able to ease water restrictions.”

 “On behalf of the Corporation I would like to thank our customers for their excellent response to the need to conserve water over recent years,” said Mr Gale.  “We recognise that it has been difficult and that the water restrictions have resulted in considerable inconvenience to our customers.”

Mr Gale said that all customers in Kilmore, Wandong and Heathcote Junction will be receiving a letter outlining the key changes in water restrictions.  “If any of our customers have not received a letter they should contact our 24 hour customer service centre on FREE CALL 1800 45 45 00. 

Key elements of Stage 1 water restrictions for private gardens are outlined below:

RESIDENTIAL and COMMERCIAL GARDENS and LAWNS

• Manual watering systems (the kind you turn on or off by hand) can be used to water gardens and lawns between 6am-8am and 5pm-7pm on alternate days

• Automatic watering systems (the kind you set to turn on and off automatically) can be used to water gardens and lawns between midnight-4am on alternate days.

• Hand-held hoses with a trigger nozzle, a bucket or watering can may be used at any time to water a garden only.

Alternate days means that properties with an odd street number may operate a watering system between the set hours on odd numbered days of the month and properties with even numbers or no number on even numbered days of the month. All properties can water on the 31^st day of the month.
