Goulburn Valley Water respond to Fire Crisis 11 February 2009 Goulburn Valley Water is responding to challenges in many towns across the region and employees and contractors are working feverishly to secure water and sewerage systems impacted by the bushfires. Goulburn Valley Water’s Managing Director Peter Quinn said water and sewerage systems in towns such as Kilmore, Wandong-Heathcote Junction, Broadford, Marysville, Buxton and Waterford Park have been affected to varying degrees. “The high priority works required are being undertaken by employees from all of our districts, which is stretching our resources.” Mr Quinn said “We are currently coping with maintenance of service levels across the region. However, if we have unexpected difficulties with the systems affected by the bushfires, or significant problems elsewhere, particularly loss of power there may be some delays in attending to customer issues”. He asked that customers recognise the impact of the bushfires on water supply assets. “This might mean it takes a little longer in getting a problem attended to in any of our towns, even those not affected by the fires, and we seek customers understanding over the next few days.” he said.
