New Tank for Katunga 25 June 2008 Residents of Katunga would have recently noticed a hive of activity at Goulburn Valley Water’s water storage site while the Corporation’s contractor replaced the elevated storage tank and platform. Goulburn Valley Water’s General Manager Technical Services, Mr Allen Gale said that the project is part of the Corporation’s commitment to deliver improved services to our customers. “The existing galvanised iron tank was showing signs of deterioration, and as this tank is an integral part of the Katunga township water supply it was important that we replaced it.” “The tank platform also had OH&S and maintenance impacts for our staff so we replaced the platform at the same time,” said Mr Gale. Mr Gale said that the new 22 kilolitre tank and platform will significantly improve reliability of supply, the carrying out of routine maintenance and ensure the current water quality for the town can be maintained. “The works took two days to carry out and during this time we supplied the town with water through the normal reticulation system,” said Mr Gale. “The supply was from the existing bore with appropriate disinfection, via a 13 kilolitre water tanker.” Mr Gale congratulated all involved. “The Goulburn Valley Water team did a great job in ensuring security of supply to our customers during this period,” he said. “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the Katunga residents for their cooperation and understanding while the works were being carried out.”
