Water Restrictions Eased for Mansfield, Sawmill Settlement, Merrijig, Bonnie Doon and Woods Point 5 September 2007 Goulburn Valley Water has announced that water restrictions will be eased from Stage 3 to Stage 2 at Mansfield, Sawmill Settlement, Merrijig, Bonnie Doon and Woods Point effective Friday 7 September 2007. Goulburn Valley Water’s Managing Director, Mr Laurie Gleeson said that the reduction in water restrictions has been possible because of improved winter rainfall. “Ritchie Reservoir at Mansfield is at 100% of capacity and our other storages in this area are above 85%. The improved streamflows are such that we can continue to fill storages in the coming weeks” he said “Goulburn Valley Water also expects to commence construction of a new 350 megalitre off-stream storage for Mansfield by November. “The new storage will more than double the existing 225 megalitre storage capacity,” said Mr Gleeson. “When filled over winter, the new storage will ensure that water restrictions are much less frequent in the future.” “Stage 2 water restrictions allow gardens to be watered on alternate days for specified hours, however, lawn watering is not permitted.” “We would like to thank our customers for their understanding and compliance with the water restrictions during this difficult period, and continue to urge residents to conserve water wherever possible.” Please see our Water Restrictions page for full details or contact our 24 hour Customer Service Centre on free call 1800 45 45 00.
