Water Carting to Broadford has Stopped 23 July 2007 Goulburn Valley Water announced that the Corporation ceased carting water from Seymour to Broadford on Friday 20 July. Goulburn Valley Water’s General Manager Technical Services, Mr Allen Gale, said that the Sunday Creek system (which includes the Sunday Creek Reservoir) is now holding over 330,000 kilolitres. “At this storage volume we are now in a position to supply water to Broadford from the Sunday Creek Reservoir.” “Thanks to the rain and runoff into the catchment, Sunday Creek Reservoir has been refilling at around 30,000 kilolitres per week since 20 June when it had a substantial increase of 70,000 kilolitres,” said Mr Gale. “Broadford is currently using around 6,000 kilolitres per week, Kilmore and Wandong-Heathcote Junction are currently using around 10,000 kilolitres”. Mr Gale said that Veolia and Pure Logistics were engaged to cart the water. “Four tankers were used to transport filtered water from our Seymour Operations Centre to the Broadford water treatment plant,” said Mr Gale. “They transported approximately 90,000 kilolitres between 11 April and 20 July, at a cost of $750,000 to the Corporation.” Goulburn Valley Water will continue to closely monitor the storage levels of the Sunday Creek system and water consumption. “We would like to thank the residents of Broadford for their support and understanding while the trucks were moving through their town,” said Mr Gale. Mr Gale said that The Corporation has engaged consultants to revisit the investigation phase of the Broadford pipeline route. “The Broadford pipeline that was originally going to be constructed in 2003, is now in the final design phase,” he said. “The pipeline was postponed when it was decided that Wallan would be supplied from the Melbourne System.”
