Stage 4 Water Restrictions at Longwood 8 March 2007 Goulburn Valley Water has announced that Stage 4 water restrictions are to apply to its Longwood system from Wednesday 14 March 2007. Goulburn Valley Water’s Chief Executive, Mr Laurie Gleeson, said that the increased restrictions were necessary as Longwood’s Nine Mile Creek Reservoir was continuing to fall as inflows declined. While Longwood residents had reduced water use significantly, further reductions were necessary to ensure that the water supply storage does not empty. Stage 4 restrictions limit water use to within the house. External garden watering using town water is banned. Severe restrictions also apply to industrial and commercial water use. Mr Gleeson added that it is recognised that these severe water restrictions would have a major impact on the community, and that they would be eased as soon as possible after good rainfall is received.
