Stage 2 Water Restrictions now in force for towns on the Goulburn & Murray Rivers

1 May 2007

Stage 2 water restrictions come into operation in all towns supplied by Goulburn Valley Water from the Goulburn and Murray Rivers from Tuesday 1st May 2007.  These towns include, Alexandra, Avenel, Barmah, Cobram, Congupna, Eildon, Goulburn Weir (Baxters Road), Kirwan’s Bridge, Mangalore, Molesworth, Mooroopna, Murchison, Nagambie, Seymour, Shepparton, Strathmerton, Tallarook, Toolamba, Tallygaroopna & Yarroweyah

Goulburn Valley Water, Chief Executive Mr Laurie Gleeson, said other towns were going onto Stage 3 or Stage 4.  “Stage 2 water restrictions ban lawn watering and limit the use of garden sprinklers to 4 hours every second day between the hours of 7 am to 9 am and 5 pm to 7 pm for manual watering systems and between 12 midnight and 4 am for automatic watering systems.”

“Alternate days means that properties with an odd street number can water on odd numbered days of the month and properties with an even street number can water on even numbered days of the month.  All properties can water on the 31st day of the month,” he said.

Mr Gleeson said that all Goulburn Valley Water customers should have received a letter, brochure and fridge card, by now.  “If any customer has not received this they can contact our 24 hour customer service centre on Free Call 1800 45 45 00 and a set will be sent out to them.”
