Recycled Storage for Tatura Nearing Completion

13 July 2007

Goulburn Valley Water’s new 210 megalitre recycled water storage lagoon on Murchison-Tatura road is nearly finished.

Goulburn Valley Water’s Managing Director, Mr Laurie Gleeson said that in late January 2007 the construction phase of the $2.9 million upgrade to the Tatura Wastewater Management Facility (WMF) commenced.  “There has been a lot of activity on the Corporation’s site on the Murchison-Tatura road this activity has involved the construction of this recycled water storage lagoon.”

“This lagoon will hold recycled water during winter when it is too wet to irrigate,” he said. “The property is also being prepared so that we can irrigation pasture.”

Mr Gleeson said that the project also involved the laying of a new transfer pipeline and three pump stations. “The laying of the pipeline has been completed and this pipeline will be used to supply additional recycled water to local farmers.”

“The pump stations are due for completion next month, one pump station will be located at our existing facility and the other two will be located at the new site, he said.  “One of the pump stations will be used to transfer recycled water to the local farmers, who we have agreements with us to supply recycled water for some of their irrigation needs.  The other pump station will be used for irrigating farming activities on our own site.”

It is anticipate that all works and the tidy up of the site should be completed by the end of August.
