New Water Corporation 1 July 2007

Under new water legislation coming into operation on 1 July 2007, Goulburn Valley Region Water Authority will become Goulburn Valley Region Water Corporation.

Chief Executive Officer of Goulburn Valley Water, Mr Laurie Gleeson said “The Water (Governance) Act 2006 provides that on 1 July 2007, all regional urban and rural water authorities will become statutory water corporations with a stronger governance framework”.  “This single corporate form will ensure that all government owned water businesses in Victoria operate with substantially similar governance arrangements” Mr Gleeson said.

Members of the Board of Goulburn Valley Water will become Directors of the new water corporation and its Chief Executive Officer, Laurie Gleeson, will be the Managing Director of the Corporation and a member of the Board of Directors.

“The new Goulburn Valley Region Water Corporation will continue to trade as Goulburn Valley Water and the transition to the new corporate structure will be a fairly seamless and inexpensive process” Mr Gleeson said.
