Reducing Phosphorus by Land Based Reuse Goulburn Valley Water operates 26 wastewater management facilities and it is the Corporation’s intention to utilise land based reuse systems where possible. Goulburn Valley Water’s objective is to ensure its river health environmental aspects are continuously improved to assist restoration of our rivers and preserve this precious natural asset for future generations. The Corporation has actively participated on the working groups considering the Yea River streamflow management plan and Seven Creeks environmental flow recommendations. In addition, the Corporation has assisted in the collection of baseline data for the proposed streamflow management plan for the Delatite River and will continue to actively work towards developing stream flow management plans for this and other waterways. Goulburn Valley Water’s potential impact on river health involves its return of recycled water to the Goulburn River at Shepparton, Alexandra and Eildon. Over the past decade the Corporation has invested in new and upgraded wastewater management infrastructure throughout the region, contributing towards a significant reduction in nutrient discharges to the Goulburn River and its tributaries. The table below outlines the reduction between 1994/1995 and 2006/2007.
