Water Restrictions Frequently Asked Questions

Stage 1 restrictions are presently in place for Alexandra, Avenel, Barmah, Bonnie Doon, Buxton, Cobram, Colbinabbin, Congupna, Corop, Dookie, Eildon, Euroa, Girgarre, Goulburn Weir, Katamatite, Katandra West, Katunga, Kirwan's Bridge, Kyabram, Longwood, Mangalore, Mansfield, Marysville, Merrigum, Merrijig, Molesworth, Mooroopna, Murchison, Nagambie, Nathalia, Numurkah, Picola, Pyalong, Rushworth, Sawmill Settlement, Seymour, Shepparton, Stanhope, Strathbogie, Strathmerton, Tallarook, Tallygaroopna, Tatura, Thornton, Tongala, Toolamba, Violet Town, Wunghnu, Woods Point, Yarroweyah, Yea.

Stage 4 restrictions are presently in place for Broadford, Clonbinane (Waterford Park), Heathcote Junction, Kilmore, Wandong.

Water Restrictions - Offences and Penalties
Extract from Water Restriction By-Law 510

"14. Offences and Penalties

  1. A person guilty of an offence against this By-Law shall be liable:

  2. for a first offence, 40 penalty units ($4,536.80) or imprisonment for up to three months:

  3. for a subsequent offence, 80 penalty units ($9,073.60) or imprisonment for up to six months;

  4. in the case of a continuing offence, an additional penalty not exceeding 5 penalty units for each day on which such offence   continues (up to a maximum of 20 additional penalty units) after service of the notice of contravention on the person under Section 151 of the Water Act 1989 or after conviction of the person for the offence.”

Note: Value of a penalty unit is $113.42
