Victorian Bushfire Information
Goulburn Valley Water appreciates
the difficulties currently being experienced by customers that have been
affected by the recent bushfires, and provides the following information
outlining actions undertaken by the Corporation in response to the disaster
which has impacted on GVW assets as well as customers.
-
The Corporation provided free bottled water to all areas that lost access to
potable water as a result of damage to GVW assets.
-
Your Bills –
We do not intend to issue accounts to destroyed properties until a
consistent state-wide approach has been agreed with the Government.
The Corporation will be sending out Water Accounts to customers whose
property has not been impacted by the fire.
To help us keep in contact with customers whose circumstances have
changed in recent weeks, please contact the Customer Accounts & Services
Department on 1800 360 007 and outline your revised contact information on your
property.
-
GVW staff are currently inspecting and assessing the damage to infrastructure
and reticulation systems in all affected areas including water meters.
-
Billing arrangements for townships not directly affected (including Kilmore,
Alexandra, Thornton & Eildon) will take place as usual.
-
The Kilmore Water Treatment Plant, which was severely damaged by the fires,
has now been made operational. Water restrictions for
Kilmore, Wandong and Heathcote Junction have been eased to Stage
1 effective
Friday 20 March 2009.
-
Goulburn Valley Water staff are actively involved in a range of fund raising
activities to support the Victoria Bushfire Appeal. Contact
the
Red Cross
if you wish to make a donation to this very important cause.
